Planning A Trip Of The Great Outdoors

Whether you go it alone or go with friends and/or family, good planning before you tackle the great outdoors and careful attention to detail during your adventure will make for a far more memorable experience. So whether you have decided to visit a national park or spend two weeks in the hinterland, let us take a look at some specifics.

Be sure to pack your bags with all the right things. Maps of the area and a compass are handy. A GPS device can also help keep you from getting lost. Getting stuck in the cold with no food or means to get warm is not only a nuisance, it can be dangerous. Be sure to include in your bag extra clothes, water and food. Other essentials are a flashlight and batteries, sunscreen, matches and a knife.

If you are planning to do some outdoor camping, then take a hard look at the weather conditions you will facing. Tents and sleeping bags should be rated for cold weather; it gets colder than you think at night, even during summer months. A tarp will help repel rain.

When pitching a tent, survey the area for the best location. Staying a bit away from a water source or a trail will probably prevent you from running into others. A spot under trees will help shield you from rain and wind. But be careful of large branches above that might easily break if conditions get really windy. You will encounter fewer insects by choosing higher elevations.

Try to minimize your impact on your surroundings. Dispose of waste properly. Trash and litter should be disposed of properly or taken with you. Rocks and plants should be left as they are found. Respect wildlife and fire usage should always be kept to a minimum.

Finally, if your trip to the great outdoors includes children, you may wish to consider bringing along a board game or two, or perhaps a deck of cards. Playing catch with a ball and glove, or throwing around a football, can offer yet more entertainment.

When you are looking for the perfect outdoor shelters for your holiday you will find it easily! Choosing from the wide selection of instant shelters available will give you the chance to get your perfect shelter today!

Northern California Golf: Seven Premier Courses

Northern California houses some of the best golf courses in the world. This is more the case than anything in the Monterey Peninsula, which happens to boast four of the top seven golf courses in the upper part of the state. While some of the courses might be pretty pricey, like Pebble Beach and Spyglass, others are very reasonably priced for the average golfer. All-in-all, the courses placed in the next few paragraphs are places that you need to get out to at some stage in your life.

While making this decision is not set in stone and will differ in accordance with personal preference, I believe the selection below encompass what every golfer deems "the perfect course." So, without further ado, here's my selection of the top golf courses in northern California:

1. Pebble Beach Golf Links - Pebble Beach, CA

The iconic Pebble Beach isn't just considered to be one of the greatest destinations to golf in all of California, but also as one of the best courses to play in the world. In fact, it had been the first public course chosen as the #1 course in the world by Golf Digest. The majestic course sits directly on the shore and gives breathtaking views of Carmel Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

Developed in 1919 by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant, Pebble Beach has hosted the U.S. Open five separate occasions in 1972, 1982, 1992, 2000 and 2010.

2. Spyglass Hill Golf Course - Pebble Beach, CA

Spyglass, nicknamed "the Glass," was designed by the widely known Robert Trent Jones, Sr. in 1966 and has stunning views of the Pacific Ocean on its first five holes. This is the 2nd of 4 courses on this list situated on the Moneterey Peninsual.

The course is so widely recognized for its superb style and design and beauty, that Golf Digest ranked it 5th on "America's 100 Greatest Public Courses." Spyglass is also amongst the courses in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am rotation.

3. Poppy Hills - Pebble Beach, CA

This tree-lined golf course is the third course listed in my choice of the seven best golf courses in northern California found in the Pebble Beach region. Although it doesn't have the ocean views of some of it's Monterey Peninsual cousins, it's tree-lined fairways set the scene for this remarkably constructed course.

With it's many dog-leg fairways, Poppy Hills was graded among the best courses in northern California and in the top 20 courses in all of California.

4. Coyote Creek Golf Club - San Jose, CA

The Coyote Creek Golf Club is the only Jack Nicklaus signature golf course in the bay area and is the most preferred place to play for all of the regional sports megastars from teams such as the 49'ers and Giants. Its flawless style and outstanding layout was attributed in Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play" and was given a rating of 4.5 stars.

5. TPC Harding - San Francisco, CA

After a very long stint of not being a major course and some necessary redevelopment, TPC Harding is yet again a PGA Tour Tournament Players Club course. Harding Park is the most recognized golfing location within the San Francisco city limits and is very affordable to San Francisco and Bay Area inhabitants.

The course was opened up in 1925 and was home to the 2009 Presidential Cup and the 2010/2011 Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

6. Winchester Country Club - Meadow Vista, CA

Tucked away in the foothills in the Sierra Nevada's in Meadow Vista, this exlcusive Championship northern California golf course was the final course created by the renowned father-son duo of Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Jr. The course was considered to be The Best Residential Golf Course in America by Golf Weekly.

7. Monterey Pines Golf Course - Monterey, CA

The last choice in my list of the seven best golf courses in northern California is also the 4th course based in the Monterey area. Monterey Pines was initially intended as a 9-hole course by Robert Muir Graves in 1963. The back 9 was added in 1972 and the course was newly designed in 2009 by Marc Messier.

Nicknamed the "Navy Course," Monterey Pines is taken care of and managed by the Navy Golf Program. This course is the best golfing destination for beginning golfers and serious golfers alike. It is challenging enough to work on your game and satisfying enough to enjoy an entire round of Eighteen.

There are plenty of outstanding golfing opportunities in northern California, and the abovementioned are some of the finest. Whether you're a keen golfer, or somebody that just enjoys getting out there and hitting the links, these courses offer a very good experience.

Snow Travel: How To Plan Your Trip

Snow travel can sometimes be a slightly confusing and complicated process. It's not possible to just pick a place and go, many other factors come into play. You have to take into consideration accommodation, transportation, luggage, visas and travel insurance to simply mention a few things.

If your journey involves flights, you should think of baggage allowances in addition to the confusing baggage weight systems for many airline carriers. Don't get the weight of your bags wrong, as this may lead to substantial overweight fees at the airport. As well as this, a good number of airlines have separate special rules for ski or snowboard bags that you need to make sure to consider.

Your journey doesn't end at the airport. You need to be sure you book transport to the ski resort and also don't forget to get some sort of accommodation ready at the resort. Most of the lower priced accommodations may be filled during high season so thinking ahead is a plus. There are times when you might need to book your accommodation many months in advance.

Should you wish to work at the ski resort, you might want to make certain you have done the appropriate paperwork and taken all necessary step to qualify for work. This can be especially complicated should you be not a permanent resident or citizen of the nation that you are visiting. However, one advantage of working is you may be allowed to receive plenty of staff deals from the resort, not to mention staff accommodation including a free season pass.

You will also need to have a lift ticket in order to be allowed on the ski slopes. Some planning ahead of time is definitely beneficial in finding the best deal. Most resorts have various kinds of deals for lift tickets depending on the duration of your stay, plus in many cases if the visit is for longer than two weeks, it usually is better value to buy a season lift pass rather than day tickets.

The length of your trip can alter many elements in arranging your snow trip. For those who are visiting for a day, it isn't too difficult to book an accommodation and purchase a 1 day lift ticket. However, if you find yourself visiting for a month or 2 months or perhaps a full season, it's essential to look at finding long term accommodation prior to visiting the ski resort. Additionally, a longer stay can lead to a need to locate a job as well as needing to ensure that you possess any needed visas, if you are a visitor from another country.

Medical Supplies For Travellers – What To Take With You

Medical supplies for travellers fall into three categories, prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs and non-pharmaceutical medical supplies such as bandages, sutures, syringes, needles, etc.

What you need and how much you should spend depend on the length of your journey, where you are going and what you are planning to do. A safari in Africa is different from a skiing holiday in the Alps! If water sports are involved, then waterproofing your first aid kit is essential. How many people are going will influence how much you need to take and any medical conditions like asthma, for example, will need to be taken into consideration when planning and purchasing your emergency medical supplies.

An individual on a hiking and fishing trip will need a waterproof container with the following: plasters, safety pins, assorted creams for bee stings/itch relief/cuts and scrapes, butterfly closures, sterile gauze and some moleskin to prevent or treat blisters from rubbing boots. Keeping inhalers or other personal medicines in the same container is a good idea. These cost around ten pounds.

A basic first aid kit to keep in your vehicle for medium to long journeys would contain larger numbers of the items in the individual kit plus a vehicle sticker, disposable gloves, eyewash pods and a foil blanket. A kit containing these items for around ten people would be around GBP 17.00 or 18.00.

More adventurous outings bring the potential for more serious injuries so include blister plasters, zinc oxide, burn gel, an assortment of different kinds of over-the-counter painkillers (some people are sensitive to one kind or another), a forehead thermometer (less likely to break than a conventional glass thermometer), scissors, tweezers, wound closure strips and powder-free vinyl gloves. This will cost around GBP 18.00.

Add to the 'big adventure' kit things like triangular bandages, sick bags, cold packs and sun cream if you want an extended kit. These tend to cost around GBP 25.00.

Doctors who have experience of treating emergencies in remote areas or third world countries recommend bringing silk suture, disposable sterile scalpels, syringes and hypodermic needles. You may also want to bring mosquito nets and water purification tablets.

Always take ample stocks of prescription medicines with you and keep it in its original packaging, along with copies of all of your prescriptions. Take a small bag for keeping supplies for your immediate use and maintain a slightly larger bag with replacement stock. This will help guard against loss or theft. The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) produce guidelines and country-specific information about medicines affecting the central nervous system (CNS). Moreover, in the United Kingdom, there are some painkillers containing codeine that are available without a prescription that are not sold in Belgium and may not even be allowed in to some countries. Check first. Limited amounts of some medications may be permitted in case of emergency situations if you bring the appropriate documentation.

When visiting a foreign country or remote parts of your own country, check with your doctor or your destination country about regulations concerning medicines or Medical supplies before you set out on your trip. Bon Voyage!

Travel Techniques For Families

Going on a family trip can be a mixed blessing. You can go someplace new, do interesting things, and be separate from the regimen of home for a little while. However, traveling with family, particularly children, can be difficult. You would like your holiday to become memorable, however for all the right reasons. If you think about what can happen as compared to what you want to happen, you will be well prepared. Below are a few travel methods for vacationing with the family whether you are heading overseas or vacationing close to home. These can save your holiday.

The primary travel guidelines you should never forget would be to call your medical care insurance company. If you are staying near home, you might not have much to concern yourself with, but those that are traveling a fair distance or over the ocean should know when they are covered or not. Several insurance companies are incredibly strict about whom you see and also if they will take care of you while you're far away out of your home. Learn what you should know so you do not have surprises if a person were to require medical attention while you are far from your neighborhood doctor and hospital. Along the same lines, be sure your immunizations are up-to-date and see if you need any new ones.

Some other travel tips suggest that you make sure you've got lots for your kids to complete. If you're traveling a long way, you are in for nothing but anguish if the children get bored, which will take about several minutes. Make sure they bring things to do together in the car, but also leave those stuff in the vehicle. They can't take pleasure in time with family should they have a music player going when you are trying to go sightseeing or swimming. Portable instruments like video games, music players, and video players are fantastic objects to have them entertained in the vehicle or on a long car journey.

Look at your cell phone for coverage. This means calling your provider and asking them about international call coverage. You might have to sign up for international calling just for the month you're touring. You can then drop it later. This really is the most important travel suggestions, as you don't want to be with out cell coverage while overseas. If you want to reach anyone, you want to know you are able to. Additionally, you will not have the ability to contact one another if your plan does not cover what your location is likely to be. Remember calling cards for areas where no cell coverage can be found.

More essential travel tips occasionally includes recommendations on staying safe and sound. Constantly stay together when on vacation, and don't make it easy for your teenagers to go out on their own in the evening. It can be too risky in a nation you do not know. Furthermore, be certain that you're going to nations which have an excellent association with your country. If you wish to visit a country which has questionable or shaky associations with your country, visit another time not having your kids in the event you must go. Lastly, remember every country differs from the others, so if you're not sure concerning something regarding staying safe, speak to your embassy in that nation for help or guidance.

Are you a foreigner who wants to seek the services of a travel agency LA city area? Lots of LA travel agents are more than willing to assist you delight in your trip far away from home.

Watching Live Show Through The Wintertime – A Great Way To Keep Entertained

It is often the case that a person is wondering what to do for entertainment during the wintertime. Watching live show is one way that can bring much joy to both grown-ups and children. Here are a few examples to give a person an idea of some of the things he or she can do and see over the winter months.

Many people love to watch plays. Fortunately, there are often many productions that are usually put on in the wintertime at theatres and other venues close by. This can be a great moment to see that play the individual has always wanted to watch. It is probably wise to check with the venue's listing guide from time to time to make sure that one does not miss anything of interest.

Many ballet shows are put on at various times throughout the year. These shows will often amaze the audience by the grace and highly trained skill of the dancers on stage. And, this is often all backed up, usually, by an orchestra.

If it is the entire family which is looking for some live entertainment, then perhaps going to the circus the next time it makes a stop near by will be a good idea. The Circus can offer the family hours of non-stop, often mind-boggling entertainment that is likely to keep the children quiet for hours, and satisfied at the end of the night ready for bed.

When an individual is craving some laughter, a good way to fulfil that need can be by going to watch a stand-up comedian. There are many such comedians in many areas who are likely to come and visit a close by venue during the winter. Going to watch such a show can be a great way to relieve ones stress too.

For anyone interested in sports, there are usually many tournaments going on over the winter-period. These will usually include a person's favorite sport, and can be a fantastic opportunity for the individual to cheer his or her favorite team along live instead of watching the sport on television.

Most people enjoy listening to interesting music. And, winter time is probably a good times to do so. Many musicians come from other parts of the world to play in different venues, and can give a person a great taster of other cultures while he or she listens and perhaps dances along too.

With a little imagination, a person can keep himself or herself and the rest of the family entertained throughout wintertime by going and watching live show. These include performances that the Theatre regularly puts on such as famous Plays and the Ballet as well as sports tournaments and the Circus. A person's local music venue is also likely to put on some interesting shows over the winter that can allow people to hear lots of unique and interesting music that has perhaps come from other countries from around the world.
