A Fisherman’s Paradise – Vilkovo
Vilkovo, known as the Ukrainian Venice, is in the Danube Delta marshlands, situated exactly where the Danube River splits into three before entering the Black Sea. This fascinating area not only brings a diverse heritage to life, it offers insight into an extraordinary way of life.
Declared a town in 1775, Vilkovo has been home to Greek, Roman, Ottoman and Slavic cultures over the centuries, each leaving a distinctive culture behind, and contributing to the diversity of this picturesque town. Because so much of the town is waterway, boats are the primary form of transport, and each home has at least one boat moored at its doorstep. Most of these boats are built exactly as the Cossack 'seagull' boats were centuries ago, although they are now commonly called 'herring' boats as that is what they are primarily used for. There are three churches in Vilkovo, all named after Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of fishermen, sailors and travellers.
One of the town's main industries is of course fishing. The Danube herring caught in Vilkovo are sought after as a delicacy by restaurants from Paris to Moscow, and sturgeon caught in the Black Sea as well as salmon form the backbone of the fishing industry. Sport anglers will enjoy the giant carp and catfish that can be caught while visiting Vilkovo. All this fresh fish means that the restaurants of the town offer delicious fish dishes, showcasing the diverse cuisine of the area.
Perhaps most fascinating to see in Vilkovo is the houses. Homes are built on islands that have been built up out of the marshland using the river sediment. Each island has a home and a garden - often very fertile because the silt and sediment is used as fertiliser. Each year, the homeowners have to repair and restore their islands, digging sediment out of a trench around the island to prevent the islands from sinking back into the marsh. The trenches also provide access for boats, and help protect the homes from flooding.
The homes are linked by a series of wooden walkways as well as some larger bridges, making Vilkovo the ideal town for long walks, providing fabulous views of the sea, the unusual homes and the magnificent gardens in the town. The waterways, known as 'yeriks', were used for drinking, washing, cooking and of course transportation. Because the sediment is so richly fertile, Vilkovo is famous for its fruit, particularly strawberries, apples and quince. Vilkovo is well known for its viticulture, producing a lovely range of local wines from the Novak grape.
Being a marshland, Vilkovo forms part of the Danube Biosphere Reserve and is home to over 950 plant species and 260 bird species, including pelican, cormorant, spoonbills and sea-eagle. Visitors to Vilkovo in spring and summer will be greeted by vast reedbeds, lily-coated lakes and in spring, frogs abound. Nature tours are a must in this diverse reserve, and boat tours through the Danube Delta provide visitors with a bird's eye view of the flora, fauna and beauty of this region. Perhaps most importantly, visitors will experience a taste of life that is governed by the natural rhythms of water, climate and seasons. A visit to Vilkovo will leave you at peace, having traversed the waters of the Ukrainian Venice.

Sign Up For Emergency Road Services
Here are some benefits of emergency road services you should consider. If you have no idea how to fix your car engine then you need to have someone come out and help you when your breaks down on the road.
Fixing your car, as one comedian joked, is not as simple as lifting the hood of your engine and seeing the big on and off switch and flipping it back to the on position. In fact you need an advanced degree to work on the cars of today that have complicated computerized systems.
You do not want to be without help if you break down at night in a rough area of time. If you have roadside assistance you can call them and explain your situation and they will make yours a priority call. This is reassurance well worth your membership fee.
If you go out in the morning to start your car and your battery is dead, you can call your service and they will come to your home and recharge your battery. If your battery no longer holds a charge, they will replace it with a new one for at a competitive price. This way you do not have to drive to an auto repair store and wait in line to have your car serviced. This is a real convenience.
If you run out of gas, roadside services will come out with enough gas so you can make it to the next gas station. If your vehicle needs to be towed to a service station, the roadside service company will arrange for a tow truck to come out and tow you to the auto center of your choice.
Of course, the service will arrange a tow truck to tow you to a service station if your auto needs towing. The services usually offer different plans. The basic plan coverage will allow you up to a certain tow distance, usually ten miles. Ten miles is a short distance when you are being towed.
The next plan will allow you free towing for up to one hundred miles. It is more expensive than the basic plan.
Some services have elite memberships that allow you unlimited towing. You should sign up for at least the second plan which provides you up to one hundred miles per tow.
With just the basic tow service, the extra towing over ten miles, can easily be more expensive than the difference between that plan and the one hundred mile towing option.
Peace of mind is what you want from your roadside assistance plan. If your family is stranded in the middle of the night in the bad side of town you will rest assured knowing help is on the way. Peace of mind like this is priceless.
Look at signing up for a emergency road services membership today. You never know the next time your car breaks down, you run out of gas, or you need a tow.

Brief Story About Britain, Northern Ireland And Republic Of Ireland
Seventeenth century was the period of invasion, plundering and insulting incidents for the people of Ireland which were so drastic in nature. Everyone in the Irish soil will tell such stories about the true past of Ireland that will make our hairs stand on end. Many have died and many have survived this brutal period just long enough to tell the tale to their children and grandchildren. The small groups of rebels in the Irish lands were brutally suppressed by forcing them to follow the ideals of their religion and culture; this was a dark period in the Irish history.
The inception of the Act of Union between the people of Ireland and England, after the memorable seventeenth century, brought a hopeful improvement in the situations at hand. However, all hopes were quelled by the internal differences between the northern and southern regions of Ireland. All these events had only one reason which was differences in the principles of the Protestants and Catholics in Ireland.
When the northern part of Ireland prospered immensely with the growth in industrial and manufacturing sectors, the uneven regions of the southern regions prevented optimistic growth in their lives, forcing them to resume their past again. Britain was blamed for all these troubles and they were forced into sending troops to solve these matters at hand. Both the regions suffered again under this newly renewed fight for freedom and prosperity and it brought about the permanent division of the northern and southern regions.
The Catholics were all for getting their complete freedom from the British and their counterparts, creating a new problem in a more diverse subject, Politics. The aftermath of these events was the birth of the Government of Ireland act in the year 1920; however, this did not solve problems and Guerrilla warfare methods were used by the Irish Republican Army to attack the British soldiers, claiming more lives brutally.
Then came the era of the legendary treaty of peace in the 1921; the treaty was signed with the agreement of combining six counties under the region of the Northern Ireland and the remaining twenty three counties in the south along with the three counties from Ulster were brought under the region of southern Ireland. The independent republic of Ireland was formed and things seemed to have come under peaceful times from then onwards.
Ireland had to face more problems in the year from 1960 to 1990 in the form of bloody violence between the Catholics and the Protestants in the land. Intensive armed attacks between the Independent Republican Army and the Protestant paramilitary forces broke out, forcing them to seek help from the British troops again to resolve matters. This brought about the signing of the Anglo-Irish Agreement between the British and the Irish Prime ministers. Following the cease fire from the IRA, the implementation of this treaty was successful in 1994. At last, in 2010, all the governing powers of Irish lands were given back to Ireland, but the echoes of the past still resound once in a while.

Toronto: The City Of Modernity
Many people find Toronto, Ontario's capital, to be a really ideal city. Though it has the highest population of any city in Canada, you would never know it. It is quietly influential and is a leading world city. It is the commerce capital of Canada, despite its sleepy facade. The city leads most others in their scholastic advancement and their technological production. These are the industries in which Toronto leads commerce.
The great thing about Toronto is its advanced way of thinking. The whole city is known for being especially liberal. It helps, too, that the city is so diverse. The crime rates are ridiculously low and the city is very clean and ecologically aware. It has made more than one 'Top Ten' list for the world's best cities.
Moving there would be a dream for some, but not if you are a person who dislikes the winter and longs for the extremely urban. The city still has some country roots and the population is not tightly packed. There are plenty of recreational trails, beaches, and parks. Keep in mind that the city is on the banks of two rivers, so there is a healthy interest in the environment.
The cool thing about Toronto is that it is not a one-note city. When you think of a city like Bruges, you think how it is really a medieval city. That is its focus. Toronto does not have a focus. Its architecture is from all different times, ranging from the space-age CN Tower to the classic Art Gallery of Ontario, to the Victorian Distillery District.
As with all cities, it is split up into districts. This is helpful for travelers who want to specify their tourism or who visit the city often and want to visit a new district every time. There are the different industrial areas, the port areas by the water, the fashion districts, sports districts, and residential areas.
The parks and beaches are lovely, too. Since there are so many beaches, you will not find yourself crowded out in the summer. There are plenty of water sports to play and a lot of sun to be had. As for parks, the best kept city secret is Cloud Gardens, which is a semi-enclosed park with an observatory. Many people do not even know it exists.
The city also has great cultural experiences. Their acting centers are renowned, with a very strong Shakespeare group. The Toronto Ballet houses some of the world's finest dancers, making it a distant fourth in ballet capitals. It also hosts many film festivals and has a healthy share of actors and directors.
The one thing Toronto is absolutely known for is it sports. Most people think of merely hockey, which IS its prime sport. However, Toronto also has baseball, soccer, basketball, and football teams, all very good. The Maple Leafs--the hockey team--provide a huge source of revenue for the city and make Toronto and Canada famous in sports. They are always the team to beat.
There is a lot that goes on in the City of Toronto, and a Toronto association has a lot to offer. There are also many contractors Toronto to assist you with any projects that you have.
