How Would You Know If A Study Abroad Argentina Program Suits You?

We all need to remember a few very important things even though it is true that teens can get a lot of things from studying abroad. The fact that we are sending a kid to a different country with minimal supervision and with usually a very different set of rules, laws and practices is the first one. But let's take a look at what we oftentimes forget even though this may sound like a moot point since we all think of this even before we consider exchange student programs.

So studying abroad looks like a great option with a terrific plan you found for your kid and he agrees with you. What's the next thing you think of? We go straight to planning the trip and making arrangements for lodging and classes and talk to people about what our child can look forward to in the trip. What's wrong with this picture?

Basically, the only real thing wrong here is that we forget the most important aspect of the whole endeavor: is our child ready for this experience? Remember, you are thrusting your child into a very different environment where there may be a lot more lax rules and enforcement and a lot more chances to screw up, even if there is simply no question that he or she will benefit greatly from the enterprise.

Yes, deciding to learn Spanish in Argentina is a great decision to make, if one's child is really ready to make the right decisions on his or her own and take care of him or herself but on the flip side, being thousands of miles away from any direct and respected figure of authority will enable a more lax kid to really break rules he or she cannot state side. If current television shows that portray grown men and women acting like buffoons in Jersey Shore and other party hot spots are any indication, then you better be safe and really think this through, remember that we are talking about a kid and not an adult.

What are we saying here? Buenos Aires spanish schools offer a lot of great programs, and we are, in no way, trying to dissuade you from enriching your child's intelligence and worldly experience through these, but do take time to assess if your kid is really ready for such a big change in habits and environments.

If your kid is responsible and has shown definitive leadership qualities and is resolute in learning all that he or she can learn, then go for it. If he or she goes through this the right way, the wisdom and experiences he or she gains will be great indeed.
