What To Pack For A Beach Vacation
When you're packing for your summer vacation, you want to make sure you take everything you need with you but also avoid over-packing, as you might end up with far too much stuff in your suitcase. We take you through the key items you definitely shouldn't be without. Sun block is one of these items as it's so important to properly protect yourself against sun burn, otherwise you might end up in pain! Also, if you're going abroad, the most important item should probably be your passport.
Polo shirts are another really good item to take with you as they're suitable for both the beach and for trips out. The light fabric is really breathable, meaning you shouldn't sweat too much when it's hot and the fact they come with a collar is great as it means you can turn it up to protect the back of your neck against the sun. Light colors such as pastel shades work really well here as they'll help reflect the sun and keep you cool.
Near the top of your vacation 'what to pack' list should be a sarong. Sarongs are great as they're light and fold up really small, meaning they won't take up much space in your luggage. You can wear one as a cover up on the beach so you don't get burned or even wear one as a makeshift skirt when you're out and about. You can get some great sequined sarongs that are cute and feminine, as well as others with a tie-dyed batik effect.
Light dresses should also feature prominently in your vacation checklist as they're really easy to wear and look great on everyone. Skirts will help to keep you cool and, if you go with a cotton dress, it will also be really breathable. Dress for the weather by making sure to wear colors that are best in hot weather - that is, lighter colors that reflect the sun instead of absorbing it. Dresses are great either for the beach or going out, making them really versatile.
You should also make sure to take a decent cover up with you - such as a kaftan - as this will help you avoid skin damage and protect you from the sun. Kaftans are light and come in lots of different colors and lengths, meaning you can choose one to suit both your needs and your style. They're a good alternative to light cotton tops and will still protect your shoulders if you wear one over swimwear, for example. It's a great item to have in your luggage.
