London – Famous Areas To Visit

London is a large city, so you will be able to find many great activities to do based on where you are visiting. It is effectively lots of towns directly joined onto one another, with these being some of the highlights:

Camden Town - Attracts a huge amount of visitors even though it is not very visually appealing. It is popular because of its vibrant market and underground music scene. You may never again find the variety of products available all in one location, one of the reasons some 100,000 people go to this market every weekend.

Covent Garden & The Strand - This town has many stores, hotels, and theaters. As such the Strand, a wide road that goes toward the City from Trafalgar Square is always packed full of visitors and automobiles. At one end of the Strand is Covent Garden, which is home to numerous bars, cafes, and entertainment such as mimes, dancers, and magicians, among others.

Chelsea - Fashionable shops, antique stores, and cute houses from the 18th and 19th centuries all come together to create an extremely popular town to visit. Even the most jaded of shoppers will be kept entertained for hours in the main shopping area of King's Road. This area is also home to the Premier League football champions - Chelsea FC.

Kensington - You will find yourself right at the gates of Kensington Palace and in just the right location for not only shopping but for looking for members of the royalty. If you have ever wanted to see a member of the royal family, then this is as good a place as any. But you will still see some great sights and snap some fantastic pictures here, even if you don't see a royal family member.

Oxford Circus & Piccadilly Circus - Millions of tourists visit these extremely famous areas every year. Piccadilly Circus is not a very clean place, and it is very crowded, but it is an area where people often meet one another because it is the middle part of London's West End. London's main shopping district is Oxford Street which can be best entered from Oxford Circus.

Soho & Leicester Square - Action abounds here as there is a fabulous restaurant, bar and pub scene in colorful Soho and frequent UK movie premieres in Leicester Square which is conveniently situated right next door. Be sure to take your camera and autograph book along as there are often movie and TV stars who frequent these areas.

Westminster - The home of the UK government for the United Kingdom can be found in Westminster, as can the world famous Westminster Abbey. Grand, important buildings can be seen from every street corner and you cannot help but feel the rich history that surrounds you. Taking a stroll on the streets of Westminster is akin to going back to when the United Kingdom was at its glorious best.
