San Diego Vacations – Tips for a Cheap Vacation
Looking for a great deal on a San Diego vacation? Have you been endlessly searching the web for tips and hints on how to find a cheap vacation to the area but still not sure where to start? Well you are not alone. Although the internet is a growing source of an endless amount of information and resources, sometimes sifting through all of the junk just to get to the "good stuff" can seem like a lot of work. So I thought that I'd try and help by listing some basic (and hopefully useful) tips on getting to San Diego for half the cost.
Lindbergh Field, San Diego's main airport, is where you will first stop. But before buying your ticket on traditional websites, try and auction website where you bid on your ticket amount. Depending on your dates and range of flexibility, the potential savings could be huge. Perhaps the best thing about flying into San Diego is the fact that the main airport is only about 5 miles from the center of downtown. So this is perfect if you are staying in the Gaslamp Quarter or attending a conference at the San Diego Convention Center. No more long drives into town after a late flight. You are in town!
The next major decision is where to stay on your trip. While there are plenty of hotels throughout San Diego to choose from, many of the more saavy vacationers are pinpointing San Diego vacation rentals as the top choice. The reason being is that you get much more value for your dollar, especially when traveling in larger groups. Much of the Gaslamp Quarter has been built within the last ten years so vacation rental accommodations within San Diego are often more modern than the hotels in the area. And when dealing with vacation rental companies, you often have much more wiggle room in terms of price, whereas with hotels you simply do not. San Diego travel tip #2 - stay in a vacation rental.
San Diego is famous for its inexpensive burrito shacks and half-priced sushi restaurants. No matter where you are in the city, ask a passerby on the street where the best mexican or sushi restaurant is and they will probably have a hard time deciding themselves. If you can plan on eating during happy hours and up at the bar you can usually get huge discounts at many different types of eateries.
San Diego Padres, San Diego Chargers, the San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, Legoland....all of these major attractions offer discounted tickets for families and individuals alike. Some common discounts include those offered through Costco, AAA, and Southwest airlines, whereas many local merchants and vendors also have discounted tickets available. And almost all allow for military personnel and their families to enter for free, so you can't get cheaper than that! Whatever you want to do you are sure to find discounted tickets and prices on San Diego attractions and amusements.
Hopefully with these easy tips you can save some serious money on your next San Diego vacation. Vacationing in California can be an expensive experience if you're not careful, but by applying some simple rules and common sense you'll end up beating the house every time.
